YertleLing to Upstate New York– Leg 5

Amother long 300 miles, but we arrived safe at Presque Isle Passage, a private campground near Erie, Pennsylvania. Actually it’s closer to Fairview. Not as gorgeous as last night’s stopping point, but the neighbors are fun.

Got here a little after 4:00 pm, set up camp, chilled over beer and wine and ordeurves, fixed sausage and eggs on the grill for dinner, and wrapped them in hamburger buns with cheese. Yum! Watermelon too. Camping can be THE life. Lots of kids here, bookoo families, that is. We feel like the oddballs we are.

Tomorrow we hope to be on the road early so we can visit Lake Erie before YertleLing on to our Upstate New York destination, hopefully arriving by dinner time.

i probably haven’t mentioned the purpose of this part of out travels. I grew up there, in upstate New York. Specifically, I grew up in Rome and surrounding areas. We’re going there, to North Bay on Oneida Lake where my favorite cousin spends her summers, and is hosting our family reunion. I hope to see a whole bunch of folks I haven’t seen since I was a kid, and I hope to see a couple of high school buddies too. In fact, my 50th high school reunion was this past weekend. Missed that but then I never made any of the earlier ones either. Not sure what that says about me, but I’m sure the shrinks have an answer.

Okay, it’s 9:00 pm, our bedtime, our reading time actually, so cross your fingers all goes well mañana.

Well, so much for my worries about what to feed your lovely chef companion. If you are feeding her sausage and eggs on hamburger buns these days, the cooking bar just got lowered for me.
